This ability to export and import goods through the port made the city an economic force to be reckoned with from the beginning; even further development over time by other European countries and expansion into the Southeast of Brazil has turned the city into the economic power of Brazil, in turn making it have the best quality of life of any city in South America.
Site of RioRio de Janeiro is locates on the Guanabara bay to the East and and the Atlantic Ocean to the South. To the west and North of the city hills that contain mineral deposits create the backdrop of the beautiful city. The city of Rio is a tropical one as it is located close to the equator. It stays warm all year and really only has one season.
